ROCHESTER, NY – On Monday, the Empire 8 Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for all competitions taking place between September 20 and September 26. Hartwick junior goalkeeper Madison Maddocks (Garrison, NY/Walter Panas) was named the Empire 8 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.

Maddocks was an important presence in both of 'Wick's wins this past week. She tied her career high with seven saves in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Union, including a nifty stop in the fourth quarter to prevent the Dutchwomen from taking the lead. In Hartwick's 3-1 road victory over Washington and Jefferson in the Hawks' Empire 8 opener on Saturday, she played all 60 minutes in net, making two saves in addition to her important positioning and presence as a goal-scoring deterrent to the Presidents.
