ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Hawks Women's Swimming and Diving Team begin competition at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championship on Wednesday at the Webster Aquatic Center at Webster Thomas High School. The event will run through Saturday, February 18.
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and the Empire 8 combine forces for the meet, where an overall Allegheny Empire Champion will be crowned. In addition, each conference will be crowing their own champion.
The Hawks enter the meet with a 3-8 overall record and a 2-1 record in Empire 8 matchups. Last season, the squad finished 3
rd overall at the meet, and second in the Empire 8.
Bree Dy (Matawan, N.J.) was named the Rookie of the Year at the end of the meet. Other top finishers for Hartwick include
Ellie Baird (Wilton, N.Y.) claiming gold in the 500 free. In addition, the relay team of Dy, Baird,
Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, Ill.), and graduate
Abby Miller, claimed the top spot in the 800 free relay.
