ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams hit the road tomorrow to compete in the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The 2024-25 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Utica University at the Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center in Utica, N.Y.
The Women look to make strides at this year's championship, with junior Brynita Haas (Red Creek, N.Y.) currently leading the distance runners. Senior Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.) as Hartwick's top thrower also hopes to finish out her indoor career with a win.
Also among them this year is newcomer Julia Weinschrieder (Williamson, N.Y.).
The Men hope to continue to climb the rankings, with sophomore sprinter Luca Montesano (Coram, N.Y.) having recently broken the school record for men's 60m hurdles with a new time of 9.16.
First-year Cody Bazemore (Bel Air, Md.) has also recently shattered a school record in men's 60m sprint with a new time of 7.14, and hopes to make a podium placement at this year's championships.
Marquis Jones-McKinney (Astoria, N.Y) headlines the field events, ranking tenth in the Empire 8 high jump standings with a best of 1.82m.
The competition kicks off tomorrow at 2:00pm for both teams. Saturday meet start time is 11:30am.
