ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick College Athletics Department is proud to announce the renaming of its annual golf tournament to the "Live Like Nick" Lambros Golf Classic, honoring the remarkable legacy of Hartwick Athletics icon Nicholas "Nick" Lambros '59, P'02, P'02, PM'03, who passed away in October of 2025, shortly after last year's event.
The "Live Like Nick Lambros" Golf Classic will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at the Oneonta Country Club. One of the department's premier fundraising events, the tournament directly supports Hartwick's 21 varsity athletic programs and enhances the student-athlete experience.
The newly renamed event reflects Lambros' lifelong commitment to Hartwick College and the way in which he lived his life. Nick's relationships with his former athletes, fellow alumni and the Hartwick and Oneonta community were legendary. Anyone who knew Coach Lambros understood that relationships were his oxygen and they could always count on a warm smile and embrace each time they saw him, as well as potential phone calls and voicemails at any time.
A standout student-athlete, legendary coach, administrator and ambassador for the Blue and White, Lambros dedicated more than six decades to advancing Hartwick Athletics while inspiring countless student-athletes, alumni and supporters. His passion for the College and unwavering generosity continue to shape the department today.
The tournament will once again serve as the opening event of Hartwick's annual True Blue Weekend, a celebration that brings together alumni, families, friends and the Oneonta community. The weekend will feature home athletic contests throughout Friday and Saturday before culminating with the induction of the 2026 Hartwick Athletics Hall of Fame class on Saturday evening.

To additionally honor Nick's memory, the College is holding a special day at Yankee Stadium in his honor on Saturday, September 12, when the Yankees play the Mets in a Subway Series match-up.
