ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Women's Tennis program has been recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, while six Hawks earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and be listed on their institution's eligibility form.
Representing the Blue and White on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list were Maggie Van Valkenburgh (Highland, N.Y.), Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), Samantha Lantzy (Valatie, N.Y.), Lily Vanuga (Springville, N.Y.), Elise Beauharnois (Peru, N.Y.) and Jillian Ferrie (Middle Grove, N.Y.).
Hartwick also earned ITA All-Academic Team honors after posting a cumulative team GPA above the required 3.20 threshold, continuing the program's tradition of excellence both in the classroom and on the court.
The academic recognition caps another successful campaign for the Hawks, who captured their third Empire 8 Championship in the last four seasons with a 4-1 victory over SUNY Geneseo in October before advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
